Exploring the Dialogue between Chillida and Heidegger

During the Creative Rendezvous workshop on March 18th, 2018, where we were discovering the abstract and monumental works of the Basque sculptor Eduardo Chillida, we were also looking into his dialogue with Martin Heidegger.

We tried to practically feel and experience how is it to be a sculptor and a sculpture. We looked into how sculpture teaches us what it means to be in world, when “the limit marks the beginning of the thing, not its end. Things begin at their limits for it is here that they enter into relationships with the rest of the world.”

We talked about how emptiness is no nothingness, but rather it is capable of accepting content. And how we attribute meaning to spaces and they become places and how chronotope plays a role in this process.

We also talked about the difference between perception and experience, how the first one is rooted in present and goes into the future and the other one is in the present, but rooted in the past.

Sending my greetings to all the participants, who also were sculptors and agreeable clay during this workshop! Looking forward to seeing you next time!

During the next Sundays you’re more than welcome to join the Creative Rendezvous about Sonia Delaunaycollaging and tribal art.

Looking forward to share my passion with you!

Let The Creative Spring Begin!

This spring I’m inviting you to revitalize yourself in a creative and artistic way. During the series of 2-3 hour workshops you will be able to create your own art and no previous experience is needed for it.

I have selected three different artists who fascinate me personally, but also allow plenty of room for exploration, imagination, experimentation and taking creative risks.

We will explore the works, main guiding principles and different techniques, such as contrasting, paper cut-outs, collaging and relating color and form to music, from the following artists: Eduardo Chillida, Sonia Delaunay and Wassily Kandinsky.

I will offer a short introduction, some images for inspiration and simple exercises that will allow you to create your own masterpiece! And of course, tea, coffee and light snacks 🙂

We will start with exploring the pioneer of the modern abstract art, Wasilly Kandinsky on March 11th, continue with introduction to Basque sculptor, Eduardo Chillida on March 18th, spice up with wild colors by Sonia Delaunay on March 25th, play around with images and forms during collaging session on April 1st and dive into the tribal patterns on April 8th.

All sessions start at 12.00 at our new creative space – Rhizom Gallery
Bregnerødgade 10, 2200, Copenhagen

You can find the full schedule and book your tickets here.

And here is a special treat – 50% off any session with the code: CREATIVESPRING-2018 – so either, bring a friend or book two sessions for the price of one! I’m looking forward to seeing you and being creative together!

Warm welcome!

Finding your passion – a life changing experience

Having a passion in life and for life can be literary a life saving and changing experience. The story of Prof. Rafi Eldor and his struggle with Parkinson’s disease is an extraordinary inspiring example of it:

Variety of courses I offer in my Creative Time Studio are aimed exactly at that – to help you to discover your passion and also equip you well during the initial stage, when making the first steps can be hard, to provide you with different tools that can help to overcome the uncertainties while finding your way and getting in touch with your creative flow.

Creative Flow as a Resource – here is to a great start!

Just this Wednesday, February 1st, 2017 the course Creative Flow as a Resource hosted by myself and Jennifer Bruder of Brain Dialogues, was set in motion towards the new direction.

It is a new beginning in many ways – participants are starting their own creative journeys and for us – it was the inauguration of the new creative space our Studio has moved in to recently.

We salute to our brave participants, who brought in loads of creative energy and an open mind!

Although the course has started, we invite you to try something out as well – a simple exercise that you can do once a week, or once a month, for example – a sort of check-in.

Take out your journal if you have one, otherwise a pen and paper, and follow these 4 simple steps:

  1. Ask yourself a question: “Where am I now?” – in terms of physical place, your emotional state, personality-wise, etc. Spend a few moments to reflect. Take your time, but also don’t overthink. When you are ready: Write, color, draw, create, etc.  three answers to this question.
  2. When you are finished, ask yourself: “Where do I want to be?” You set up the time-frame – in can be by the end of the week, in a months, or half a year. When you are ready: Write, color, draw, create, etc. three answers.
  3. These two questions can take you through a big, and rather overwhelming, picture. But every big expedition starts out with a first small step. Examine your answers to the second question and decide on one thing that you can do this week, something that will bring you closer to where you would like to be and do it! Is it time to visit the arts supply shop and buy a canvas and paints?; a travel guide?; to take an online course?; or simply go for a walk?; pick up the phone and call a friend?…
  4. When you have completed steps 1–3, come back to the exercise, and reflect how it felt to move towards your forever-elusive dream, the goal there isn’t time for, or the people you miss. Is there something you want to revise in steps 1–2? Can you continue adding onto step 3?

Here is what one of the participants mentions on the topic:

@creativetimestudio made me really think. I am rather clear about my own #now, but what I want to be, see myself, feel, discover remains to be revealed. There of course will come #lifeprocess surprised – those, hiding under the yellow sticky notes. #personaldevelopment #creativeprocess #thinking

Creativity as a Resource – workshop at PWN – Copenhagen

This past Tuesday, I had the pleasure together with Jennifer Bruder from Brain Dialogues to host our Creativity as a Resource Workshop for the Professional Women’s Network, Copenhagen chapter.

It was a very lively and cozy forum with 12 professional women from all over the world, who eagerly tapped into their creative side that evening. In just 3 hours we explored a wide range of issues, such as how to become more efficient, less stressed, and more creative with our daily tasks.

img_4676

We have experienced how framing and limiting time can be a tool to boost creativity – it helps to cut out our inner censor and place all of our focus on the process of creation itself.

We stressed that creativity is a skill that can be trained, much in the same way you train your muscles. Thus, it follows, you do need to make time to be creative. The good news is, by giving ourselves 10 minutes a day, we can greatly build on our creative skills and our creative brain. There is no need to look for special days, nor a special atmosphere in order to get into the creative mode. Establishing a daily 10-minute routine will make an enormous difference to your energy, mood and to the quality and novelty of your ideas.

We have also traveled through time during the workshop – tapping into our past experiences and positive emotions, through relaxation and meditation, drawing the inspiration from these experiences and creating something new in the present moment. And we have imagined a few alternatives, some very short sketches of the future possible self. We know that techniques designed to tap into your memories, your emotions and your real and imagined experiences enhance the creative process. Mindfulness is an excellent tool to get this going.

We had a wonderful time and we were so thrilled to feel the inspiration and energy flowing in the air throughout the evening!

If you’re curious to experience your own creative energy, build the creative muscle, and gain motivation for establishing your own creative routine firsthand, we are offering a longer, more in depth course beginning on November 13th. We will meet once a week for four weeks and we would love to have you join us.

Looking forward to exploring creativity together with you!
